How to use status in WhatsApp on iPhone - in detail?

Using the Status feature on WhatsApp is a great way to share updates, photos, videos, and more with your contacts. Here's a detailed guide on how to use the Status feature on an iPhone:

Firstly, ensure that you have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on your iPhone. Open the app and navigate to the "Status" tab located at the bottom left corner of the screen. Tap on it to view the status updates from your contacts. To create a new Status update, tap on the "+" icon or swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

You will be presented with several options for creating a Status:

  1. Text Status: You can type a message and customize it by choosing different fonts, background colors, and even adding emojis. Simply tap on the text field to start typing your message. Once you're satisfied with your text status, tap on the "Send" icon (a paper airplane) in the lower right corner of the screen.
  2. Photo or Video Status: To share a photo or video from your camera roll, tap on the gallery icon at the bottom left corner of the screen. Select the media you want to share and customize it further by adding text, drawing on it, or applying filters. Once you're done editing, tap on the "Send" icon to post your Status update.
  3. Camera Status: To capture a new photo or video directly from WhatsApp, tap on the camera icon at the bottom right corner of the screen. You can switch between the front and rear cameras by tapping on the switch camera icon in the top right corner. Once you've captured your media, you can add text, draw on it, or apply filters before posting it as a Status update.
  4. GIF Status: WhatsApp also allows you to share GIFs as Status updates. Tap on the "GIF" icon at the bottom of the screen and select a GIF from the library. You can search for specific GIFs using the search bar at the top of the screen. Once you've chosen your GIF, tap on the "Send" icon to post it as a Status update.

After posting your Status update, you can view how many people have seen it by tapping on the eye icon next to your status in the Status tab. You can also see who specifically has viewed your Status by swiping up on your status and tapping on the "Seen by" option.

Remember that Status updates are temporary and will disappear after 24 hours. If you want to delete a Status update before it expires, simply tap on it in the Status tab, then tap on the three dots (...) at the bottom right corner of the screen, and select "Delete".

Additionally, you can control who sees your Status updates by going to WhatsApp settings > Account > Privacy > Status. Here, you can choose from the following options:

  • My contacts: Only people in your contact list will be able to see your status updates.
  • My contacts except...: Everyone in your contact list except for specific people will be able to see your status updates.
  • Only share with...: Only specific people that you select will be able to see your status updates.
  • Nobody: No one will be able to see your status updates, and you won't be able to view anyone else's status updates either.
