Who can see my status in WhatsApp - briefly?

Who can see my status in WhatsApp - in detail?
The visibility of your WhatsApp status is governed by privacy settings that you have control over. By default, your status updates are shared with all of your contacts. However, WhatsApp offers several options to customize who can see your status.
Firstly, it's important to understand the different types of status updates available on WhatsApp: text-only statuses, media (photos or videos), and links. All these status types follow similar privacy rules.
Default Visibility
When you set a new status, by default, it will be visible to everyone in your contact list. This means all your contacts, regardless of whether they have saved your number or not, can see your status updates unless you change the settings.
Customizing Privacy Settings
WhatsApp provides options to restrict who can view your status updates:
- My Contacts Except: You can select specific contacts from your list that won’t be able to see your status. This is useful if you want to share your status with most of your contacts but exclude a few.
- Only Share With: This setting allows you to choose only specific contacts who will be able to view your status updates. The rest of your contacts will not have access to it.
- Nobody: If you select this option, no one will be able to see your status updates. This is ideal for when you want to keep your status private or haven’t decided on what to share yet.
How to Change Privacy Settings
- Open WhatsApp and go to the "Status" tab.
- Tap on the three vertical dots (menu) in the top right corner.
- Select "Status privacy."
- Choose from the options: "My contacts," "My contacts except...", or "Only share with..."
- If you choose "My contacts except...", select the contacts you want to exclude.
- If you choose "Only share with...", select the contacts you want to include.
- Tap the checkmark to save your changes.
Additional Considerations
- Group Chats: Status updates are not shown in group chats by default, but if a contact has your number saved and sees your status individually, they will still be able to see it within the group chat context.
- Blocked Contacts: If you have blocked someone, they cannot see your status even if they were previously able to.
- Status Expiry: Status updates disappear after 24 hours, regardless of who can see them.
