If you block a contact in WhatsApp, what will happen to them - in detail?
When you block a contact on WhatsApp, several changes occur from both your and the blocked user's perspective:
- Messages and Calls: The blocked user will be unable to send messages or make calls to your number. Any attempt they make will result in an error message saying "Message not delivered" for text messages, and a failure notice for voice or video calls.
- Status Updates: You won't see their status updates anymore, and they won't be able to view yours either. This includes any changes to their profile picture.
- Last Seen: The blocked user will no longer be able to see your last seen or online status. Similarly, you won’t be able to see theirs.
- Read Receipts: If you block someone after they've sent you a message, WhatsApp will prevent them from seeing read receipts (blue ticks) for any of their messages.
- Group Interactions: Blocking a contact doesn’t remove them from groups you both are part of, but it does limit interaction. They can still see your messages in the group chat, and you can see theirs, but you won't receive notifications for their messages or calls outside of the group context.
