To view the status updates in WhatsApp, follow these detailed steps:

Open WhatsApp: Launch the WhatsApp application on your mobile device. Ensure that you are logged into your account.

Navigate to the Status Tab: At the bottom of the screen, you will see several tabs including Chats, Calls, Contacts, and Camera. Tap on the "Status" tab, which is usually represented by a camera icon with a plus sign inside it.

View Your Contacts' Statuses: Once you are in the Status tab, you will see a list of your contacts who have recently updated their status. These updates can include photos, videos, text, or GIFs. To view a contact’s status, simply tap on their name or profile picture.

Interact with the Status: While viewing a contact's status, you can perform several actions:
- Reply Privately: Tap the "Reply" button at the bottom of the screen to send a private message to the contact about their status update.
- React with an Emoji: You can also react to a status using emojis. Tap on the reaction bar below the status and choose from a variety of emojis to express your feelings.

Check Your Own Status: To view your own status, tap on "My status" at the top of the Status tab. Here you can see all the updates you have shared with your contacts. You can also edit or delete your status from this section.

Update Privacy Settings: If you prefer to control who can see your status, go to WhatsApp settings by tapping on the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner of the screen. Select "Account" > "Privacy" > "Status". Here you can choose between three options:
- My contacts: Only your saved contacts can see your status.
- My contacts except...: All your contacts except those you exclude will be able to view your status.
- Only share with...: Only the selected contacts can view your status updates.
